ABOUT US
Schirmer Construction Company’s history began in Cleveland,Ohio in the early 1930’s when the Schirmer Company predecessors: the Schirmer- Schneider Company and the W.J. Schirmer Company, were located in downtown Cleveland at West 28th Street and Detroit Road, directly over the Kilbane Tavern.
During those early days, Fred Schirmer, (grandfather of the current Fred Schirmer), was the General Superintendent for the construction of Cleveland Municipal Stadium. Fred’s brother, Bill Schirmer, was the General Contractor for the Cleveland Municipal Stadium project.
In July 1980, Bill Schirmer, (son of Schirmer-Schneider Company founder Fred Schirmer), and long-time employee, Jim Yungman, established Schirmer Construction Company.
Over the years, the company aggressively expanded its workforce and management. Bill and Jim guided the company into new areas of construction, gaining the trust and respect of clients that are still an integral part of Schirmer Construction Company today.
In 1982, Bill’s son, Fred, became a third generation owner in the construction business. He took an early interest in the construction industry.
As Fred demonstrated continued interest in a construction career, Bill became the guiding force in his son’s career. “My dad was a visionary, a planner and a brilliant financial investor,” said Fred Schirmer, “His vision continues today and is an inspiration to us all throughout the company.”
